Subtle Changes to MASSIVELY Improve Your Mental Health

3 Small Things That Make a Big Impact

If you want to massively improve your mental health, it’s not as hard as you might think.

After 12 years of therapy and getting myself out of crippling depression three different times, I’ve boiled down three subtle changes you can make right now that are actually pretty easy to do and will improve your mental health tremendously.

1. Focus on What You Can Control (Instead of What You Can’t)

If you’re unhappy right now, your brain is probably hyper-focusing on everything you don’t like about your life — and I’d bet most of it feels outside your control. That focus makes everything seem much worse.

Our brains are programmed to identify threats, so this isn’t your fault. Your brain is just doing what it thinks will keep you safe by zoning in on those “threats” beyond your control. But here’s the thing: focusing on what you can’t control makes you feel stuck and powerless.

Those aspects of your life that you don’t like, the ones you can’t change? They’re constraints, not barriers. They don’t have to stop you. However, focusing on them can keep you trapped in a cycle of negativity.
